Donald Wollheim was one of science fictionΓÇÖs most influential figures for 50 years. Like James Blish, Wollheim (b. 1914) started as a big science-fiction fan before writing his own scifi stories. Wollheim published countless fanzines, co-edited Fanciful Tales of Time and Space , and founded the Fantasy Amateur Press Association in 1936, and the Futurians in 1938. A life-long resident of New York City, Wollheim published his first story, ΓÇ£The Man from Ariel,ΓÇ¥ in 1934.
